Googal

So ever wondered what Google means. It had its origins from the word Googal . A Googal is a one followed by a hundred zeros. As wikipedia will tell you, a googol is equal to ten duotrigintillion

And when the Google founders gave their software to some company, they got the check addressed to Google and not Googal.. and thats how Googal went on to become Google...:)

I heard the term Googal on Jeopardy this evening.

I am currently reading the "Google" story and it says in the book that when the word "Googal" was suggested they like it but spelt it wrongly as Google, which was available as a domain name. When they found out the correct spelling it was not available as a domain name so they went back to wrong spelling

googal is a tiny village on the left bank of krishna river in the raichur district of karnataka india.It is said that the village is the place of kannada mystic poet Allama of 12th century.
